Morley Construction Company provided all structural and architectural concrete services for Academic Complex II, placing over 7,200 cubic yards of concrete. Colored exposed sandblasted walls are just one of the features of the 211,000-square-foot, three-story academic building located on the CSU San Marcos campus. Radial concrete walls and architectural sawcutting on the floors enhance the aesthetic value of the cast-in-place structure. Prior to installing high-end architectural finishes, Morley’s team overcame the unique challenge of installing a foundation system into a large field of subsurface granite by utilizing a 10,000-pound hydraulic breaker to excavate and tie foundations into the formational rock system.
