Colored exposed sandblasted walls are just one of the features of the 211,000-square-foot, three-story academic building located on the CSU San Marcos campus. Radial concrete walls and architectural sawcutting on the floors enhance the aesthetic value of the cast-in-place structure. Prior to installing high-end architectural finishes, Morley’s team overcame the unique challenge of installing a foundation system into a large field of subsurface granite by utilizing a 10,000-pound hydraulic breaker to excavate and tie foundations into the formational rock system.
