Madame Tussauds Entertainment Experience

Madame Tussauds Entertainment Experience

The Madame Tussauds project is a 42,120-square-foot, three-story structural steel building with 47,914 square feet of below-grade parking adjacent to the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theater. The attraction features interactive “wax museum” exhibits, each with its own specific architectural, electrical, and audiovisual needs. The structure includes unique curved shear walls constructed of black masonry, decorative zinc paneling installed in a shingle pattern, and slanted glazed curtain walls, as well as 4,673 cubic yards of structural and architectural concrete placed by Morley Construction Company.

The two-story, below-grade parking structure with three structural steel, metal concrete-fill decks was enhanced with architectural concrete walls featuring large beams to support curved CMU walls. Architectural walls were formed with job-built panels and wrinkled sheeting lining to provide a topographical finish. Extensive rebar was used to tie-in beams with the below-grade walls and a CMU wall that twisted while rising in the air, changing from a stack bond to a running bond.
