Morley Construction Company performed all structural and architectural concrete subcontracting services for this 177,000-square-foot science and technology center on the University of San Diego campus. Scope of work also included a two-level, cast-in-place subterranean garage for 243 cars.
The project features a 60-foot turret overlooking Mission Bay and perimeter concrete walls with an integral stone pattern that simulates large stone blocks. Concrete decks were designed as a massive pan-joist system with a typical size of 14′ x 14′. Approximately 7,000 square feet of deck and 9,000 square feet of walls were poured each week. The project used a total of 11,023 cubic yards of concrete and houses classrooms, auditoriums, offices, and kitchens.
